weeaboo

so some "fun loving" chatters seems to enjoy calling me a weeaboo. so i decided to check out what that word meant. Now, normally, I live under a rock and dont care, but I decided to be proactive and check it on urbandictionary...

"
Weeaboo
Someone who is obsessed with Japan/Japanese Culture/Anime, etc. and attempts to act as if they were Japanese, even though they're far from it. They use Japanese words but usually end up pronouncing them wrong and sounding like total assholes. You can find alot of these faggots clogging up the forums of Gaia Online, hanging out in the international aisle of the supermarket, or crowding the manga section of your local bookstore. Synonym of wapanese.

I told that weeaboo girl over there that Inuyasha sucks. She slapped me across the face and proceded to cuss me out in Japanese.

AND

Weeaboo
1. A person so obsessed with japanese culture that they ignore their own.
2. Someone obsessed beyond healthy levels with anime.
3. People who ruin activities for other people with overzealous references to said anime.
4. People so oblivious to reality they only care about anime.
5. An action worthy of getting one's ass beaten.

1. Inuyasha fans
2. Americans claming to be "Otaku."
3. "Did you hear that kid? He won't shut up about how great Full Metal Alchemist is. Such a weeaboo."
"

I am, in fact none of these things. I like catgirl ears. Im interested in Japanese culture and like anime cause it's a pretty type of animation. I like Tokyo a lot. I like to travel and learn about other cultures. But Im not Japanese at all, never will be, and dont pretend to be so. I know these people are just kids fooling around in my chatroom, but its really too bad that someone wanting to learn about another culture is suddenly labeled as obsessed. I think it's easy to to that with Japan somehow because they have infiltrated geek culture over here so well. Are there rude words for people learning Italian and shopping in Pasta shops (which we have here in NYC)? Hmmm. Anyway, Im deciding on my permanent ban level opinion for these folks..for spreading derrogatory remarks around in a chatroom dedicated to a web personality who is trying to facilitate good relations amongs all cultures. it just seems to go against what Im doing.

More babble on Jtv
ECV is obviously a dope but he gets an audience. He was spewing nonsense about Lisa being obsessed about the rating system and wanting to kill herself because she wasn't or never has been at the top.

Needless to say we know Lisa better than that she hates the ratings. Rock on Lisa!!

Don't worry about those people. Who are they to judge you? Me, I'm dealing with similar stuff in my life too. People think they know you, and believe for some unknown reason that they have a right to judge you and put you down. They do not. They don't know you, they are not experts on your life regardless, that you are online. No one but you really knows how you feel about things and what you believe.

Consider the source, and ignore or ban those annoyances. You have the right. :)

I'm not wapanese, I swear
Hehe, I just allegedly humorously get it out of the way before anyone can say anything. I just say yeah, I love me some anime and Japanese culture fascinates me, but I swear I'm not wapanese. Of course, I don't have the burden of facilitating good relations amongst all cultures, being the badassss loner that I am... yeah. >.>

But anyway, people are people are people are people. Sh... ortsightedness happens to the best of us.
