the Christmas carols were playing loudly, the same CD as the day before and the day before. More and more customers lined up, frustrated that they could not check out right away. Out of tissue paper. Out of large shopping bags. So many delicate ornaments to somehow wrap and make safe for trips back to Brooklyn. Phones ringing off the hook, and merchandise mislabeled and not found in any catalog or computerized sku records.
People buying random shit just because they had to for Office Kris Kringle, or family. People not even caring, but grabbing up some random thing in the "gifts under 15$ pile" (oh, so i dont seem too cheap as to pick from the 10$ pile..but its only my coworker..so i wont choose something from the 20$ pile..oh no wait..somethign just a LITTLE meaningful!)
Ok, i dont want candles for christmas. No random little glittery reindeer thingys, no harry potter, no doggie calenders, no cute little picture frames with teddybears around the edge. Just stop already. Stop. Stop the ritual of random crap!!
