update from the Crocker Pond House

Even a B&B out in the wilds of Bethel, Maine has a wireless network. Fabulous! We were streaming off if it last night while watching "Cherish" on Dave's portable DVD player. I still had a lag, so I wasn't able to talk with people directly, but at least I was up and running! The wall are so thin here, we could eavesdrop on other peeople's conversations. After shutting off the stream, we had the most absolutely quiet and subversive sex that's ever been had. haha.

As promised by certain individuals in the chatroom, the bugs have been...friendly...to say the least. After a pasta dinner at the family home -- complete with old folks, long lost cousins, screaming kids and 1 obedient golden retriever-- we headed back to the B&B for a desserts reception. Although I'd consumed way more than a serving size of cake batter flavor ice cream in Portland, I filled my plate with fruit and cookies and a small sliver of blueberry cheesecake. People started drifting out of the warm main space inside to gather around the picnic table on the deck. I was one of the last to move. I was tired. I had tasty sugar in my hands. I was lazy. But finally convinced by Dave's dad, I grabbed a decaf and walked back to the porch. I returned inside in less than 3 minutes. I am a bug magnet. It's just the way it goes. We were sitting around citronella candles and I even had a "bug button" attached the the front thigh of my pants. Mosquitoes were laughing at me. It was all a big joke to them. My blood is sweet and in those 3 minutes outside, they got me twice on the arm, once on the shoulder and twice again on the ankles. Grrrr.

This morning we stuffed outselves with french toast, fruit salad, and tea. We're headed out to some falls that we were told about and perhaps the farmer's market. Dave wants to hike and do some mini-golfing. If I can webcast, I will. It just depends. I still have no bars on my cell, but as soon as I do, i'll upload some pictures as suppliment to the brief text here.

One of Dave's older relatives has a plane and he invited me to come flying with him later today. This may or may not pan out, depending on weather and such. Im trying to convince Dave to let me webcast it...even tho I was told no webcasting around the family. Maybe I can just say that Im filming..after all, it will all be archived and "filmed" anyway, right? I will try. No promises. And anyway, Im super scared of small aircraft.

We're off. time to explore. and time's a-wastin'! :)

update from the road

im in the car, later than Dave would have liked...apparebtly he wanted to be out of the hotel at 10am, but this wasnt communicated to me. So the fact that we left at 10:45 instead caused a little bickering. Whatever, I like road trips and i don't think that 45 minutes will be the end of the world.

We left the Crown Plaza and hit up a Dunkin Donuts. The joint was located right next to a farmer's market. I wanted to go check it out, but I knew Dave was in a hurry so we pulled over and I jumped out the car and headed to the DD. The place was run by a bunch of eastern european ladies...a change from NY where other minorites own the donut service market. I ordered 2 sesame bagels with cream cheese, a small coffee for dave, an oj for dave and a water for me. I thought about getting an OJ too, but Id just brushed my teeth so water seemed a better option for the ole taste buds. Service was slow and required three people: one to ask me if I wanted coffee and to pour that coffee, one to ring up my order very slowly, and other to prepare the bagels while making jokes in another language with her co-worker.

But now we're fed and semi-hydrated. The traffic has slowed on I-495, near exit 46 to Merimack, or whatever that sign just said... Dave is in a better mood and Pink Floyd is playing on the radio "Hey! Teacher, leave those kids alone!" hahah. There are large white cumulus clouds gathering in the sky. I said thunderstorm. Dave says that the standard Vermont/ Massachusetts sky. We are trying to remember the band members from Pink Floyd and where they might possibly be.
