"Maam, I am NOT ruining your life." The woman behind the counter rolls her eyes. She shifts the phone, looks at us, and shakes her head.
Shiver. The AC is up way too high, especially since it's pouring rain outside. Shiver. We move outside, under the eaves of the building. 10 minutes. 20 minutes. A ghetto-looking truck backs up to the parking area. "Diesel Gas Only" is written on the fuel tank.

We find out later that the passenger-side door cannot open from the inside, there are no seatbelts, no headlights, and the cargo-area roof leaks. Fabulous. Gotta love U-Haul.
----------------

We are moved into our new place! I'm in pain today, but it's over. I have a few small things at the loft yet to grab. Some clothes to sell at Beacon's Closet and donate to the fabulous Salvation Army. Ifrit was pretty much freaking out last night for the first hour, but after we sat down to eat-take out on our new apartment floor, he crawled out from his hiding place and joined us. What a good kitty.

Im sneezy and allergized. Im beginning to wonder if these "allergies" arent some sort of infection. I dont have any gross yellow snot, but a constant runny nose, sneezing, and congestion. i took more drowsy allergy medication about 15 minutes ago (i didnt see non-drowsy allergy stuff at the drugstore...only non-drowsy cold medication, which isnt exactly what I need), and bought some coffee downstairs. I only hope the two counteract in a good way so i can get something done today.

Whoops! Lunch over.

Yay!
I'm so glad your move is over! That sucks about the funky, leaky U-Haul. I hope your stuff didn't get wet. Anyway, I hope you feel better, and that things start to fall into place for you.

Oh man, Lisa--never, never use U-Haul, because they'll find 25117418703584353 different ways to completely ruin your move, and your life, and the lives of those who help you move. Ryder's better, Penske's even better despite their stupid name (Penske? What the hell's a Penske??).

i agree. I moved up to NYC in a Penske. It was new. Everything worked. No strange and polluting gasolines. yeah, penske pretty much rules. We used Uhaul cause it was more convenient to our location.

Oh man!! U-Haul!!! We recently moved my mom. We had the biggest U-Haul there is...it was ancient, it was diesel, it was a standard transmission, and nothing inside worked. Her new driveway is up a slight hill. I was inside and had glanced outside the window just a moment before, and my husband was on the tailgate. My brother-in-law backed it up, set the parking look outside and the truck is careening down the hill....looking like it was about to tip over (with a big houseful of stuff inside)!! Turns out the parking brake was capput. GRRRRRR!!

Re:
Well, my brother-in-law was able to stop the truck. He hadn't gotten all the way out when it started rolling, and my husband had jumped off right then. Nothing seemed to be hurt in the truck...I guess because it was packed to the very top. When my sister & I took it back, we had to just about get ugly with the guy there. We told him what happened, and he looked out the front doors and said, "Well it doesn't seem to be going anywhere now." (Insert your expletive of choice here). We were like, Yeah! It's on a flat surface. We ended up getting some money off. But my gosh!!! This truck should not be getting rented out!! I don't even want to think what would have happened if it had ended up turning over!! With my brother-in-law in the cab.....and everything my mom owns in the back!! So........don't use U-Haul....even if it might be cheaper....there's a reason for that. =)

The pollen count is up crazy again in the city. Not sure what type of pollen but half of my office has been sneezing the last week or two.

Re:
Is bendryl the only thing that works for you? Because for sleepiness that is the worst, they actually use bendryl as both an allergy medicine and a sleep inducing drug its so good at making people tired. I use drixoral but that makes some people tired as well. Allergies since june 8th really bites, hopefully they clear up soon. o(

I use Tylenol allergy, sinus. Yellow and green box. They are the best for me! They have an antihistimine, AND a decongestant. They don't make me tired, but Benedryl is like knock out drops to me! It's true, Benedryl is the same medication that is in all the over the counter sleep aides.

i did take the TV.
I will crinkle for Ifrit (who is being a TOTAL brat about the move.)

I'll tell Jimmy yoyo, whats up?

i sneeze like a freak in the office. I think its the AC. The Bendryl REALLY makes me drugged. The tylenol didnt work well. Well, it did, but I had to take it every 3 hours. This one works for about 8 hours a pop. Claritin didnt work for me either. I should go back to the doc at some point. Try Claratin-D or Allegra, or something.

ive been popping 1 pill and then drinking 2 cups of STRONG coffee. Then Im awake, jittery, cotton brained, all at the same time, but NOT sneezing, and dripping and congested to the point where I have to hold a hand over my mouth while I chew with my mouth open cause i cant breathe through my nose! its worth it after 3 months of this hell.
