Building a life is like building a house. You start with the foundation (a place to live, an income, a partner - maybe) Then you start building the good stuff. So what for you lisa is the good stuff? What is the 'more' that you want?

Most people live in the foundations all of their lives, never realizing that there is a 'more', or do but don't do anything about it and end up becoming mean and small. It's actually healthy to be pissed off and want to move up.

And hey - the New Year is coming - a perfect time to change. Decide on 3 things you want to happen in 2003 and then do them.
And this isn't pop psychology. You either plan and do the stuff you want or you don't. You may fail - so what - you learn soemthing.

We humans are great for coming up with reasons why not to do something - too tired, too hard, too dangerous, too difficult...blah blah blah.

Everything you say lisa - it's sooooo true. We've all been there. It's winter, it's cold, it's grey, politics are fucking up the world and our futures and you think 'what's the point of even trying'?

I don't know the absolute answer to this. The Universe is indifferent to whether you're happy or not. (I think I'm writing myself into a corner here!)

The question is I think - what's the point of not trying? What is gained by not trying?

Comments anyone?

Allan - wishing lisa and james fun holidays and an adventurous and safe 2003.

I agree with you, Allan. But sometimes you just slam your fist down and say that you ARE going to do something and everyone else, it seems, slams their fists down harder and make it so you can't do anything. Some of us us never win without turning to rage.
