in Riverdale

Im at D-chops's place wearing nothing but a pair of his scrub pants. its nice and hot in here. I just got done with my morning interneting, and im ready to pop in to the shower before heading back to Brooklyn. Took today and tomorrow off of work to study, so I sorta need to get on that. Not feeling motivated. I slept too much, I think.

We went applepicking yesterday and carted out 25 lbs of apples! I've eaten 8 apples in less than a 24 hour period. Im supposed to take at least 10 lbs with me when I leave here today. Not sure what to do with them, since most are too sweet to bake with. Guess Ill be getting my fiber. We also went to the Paliades Mall yesterday and pretty much punked around like 14 year olds for 4 hours. It was great! KEep in mind that NYC does not have malls in the suburban sense. Palisades mall is HUGE with all the usual suspect stores you'd exepct to find. We laughed at the teenagers and the parents with strollers. We laughed at all the shit that was on sale in every single corner. I made D try Arby's sauce on french fries, but he liked the horsey sauce better. I stole 10 packets of Arbys sauce to dip my vegan chicken nuggets in tonight for dinner. Im not into fast food, but Arby's sauce has this certain notstalgic value from childhood. Very comforting. We also went to see "Team America" . FUNNY! Some of it sorta drags, but the funny sports are hilarious! Very recommended. America! Fuck yeah! The only downside to the mall fieldtrip were all the blonde preppy 13 year olds in the Hot Topic. And nothing on the website was in the store, I swear. Random fake "punkish" shit, crappy band t-shirts, terrible excuses for skirts. and no shoes, except some pseudo army boots. boring. And dissapointing.

Add Lemon Juice For Baking (not too sweet)
If you squeeze lemon juice all over the apples before you bake them (when cut up into a pie, galette, etc.), then they won't be too sweet, esp. if you adjust downward on the sugar or don't add any at all. You could also achieve a "baked apple" effect for a non-pastry thing by adding some raisins/chopped nuts to cut up (and lemon-juice covered) apples that you then bake in a glass dish with foil covering...cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.
